Today I’m going to be looking at my number one Forest School time saving tip that you’ll thank me for.

So what is this big time saving tip, drum roll please…

Pack the night before!

It sounds so easy and so straightforward….but honestly it’s a game changer.

It will help your morning run a lot more smoothly because it takes away the stress and chaos of trying to figure it all out then and there.

What I would recommend is printing off or storing on your phone our list of recommended kit for each season.

Then the evening before find each item and bring it all together, popping it in their rucksack they will use the next day. Jobs a good ‘un.

It will honestly save you tonnes of time and make the morning of a session go that tiny little bit easier giving you time to have that second brew.

When the children get older maybe they can either help you pack their kit or even do it themselves.

All incredible practice for self reliance and planning ahead.

This tip you could even apply to other areas of your life too for example going to the gym, going for a night out, going away for the weekend.

So why does it work?

Well

You’ll know where everything is and what, if anything, is left to do. This keeps your ‘Decision Bank’ fuller for Longer.

Psychology research suggests we all have a finite number of decisions in our “bank” every day that depletes as we make them.

Preparing the night before cuts out needless bank depletion so early in the day and sets you and your little one up for success.

It also works to lessen stress and to be clear about your goals for the day.

When you’ve planned out the next day before you even fall asleep, you’re less likely to spend time awake worrying about it.

Forgetting things causes stress particularly when you forget things your children need.

It can rest on your mind all day, and some people are inclined to beat themselves up over forgetting things like that.

Planning things out — even using a checklist if you need to — lets you thwart that stress in its tracks and get on with the important matters that day.

So there you go the number one time saving tip for Forest School.
